THE GHOST WRITER (2010)

I'm a huge fan of Polanski's work, so no surprise that I'm really looking forward to his latest outing here in THE GHOST WRITER. Impressive cast, especially the likes of the legend Eli Wallach! Great to see him still working away at...what 95 years of age?

RE: THE GHOST WRITER (2010)

I read and enjoyed the novel by Robert Harris (I read that Polanski and Harris were going to collaborate on an adaptation of Harris' novel Pompeii). Harris is generally a good writer - I enjoyed his Fatherland and Archangel and the adaptation of the latter starring Daniel Craig was very good as well. I don't understand why the film has had to include the word "writer" in it, as the original novel was just called The Ghost. That said, sometimes films have had to be retitled under the assumption (possibly correct) that the majority of the target audience is dumb. Which is one thing that Harris' books and style of writing aren't.
Eli Wallach must be in his 90's, I am always impressed by actor who can keep on performing well into their twilight years - not that many do anymore , unless they are relegated to "cameo roles" or "character parts" - I was recently watching a film with another of my favourite actors, Rachel Kempson (mother of Vanessa Redgrave) and she must have been in her 80s when she made the film.
It's good to see Polanski is still making films too - he continues to be one of my favourite directors.

RE: THE GHOST WRITER (2010)

I read that Polanski haS won the Silver Bear in Berlin for this film (which he was unable to receive in person as he is still under house arrest in Switzerland) so it should be an interesting film to day the least.
