Lost Boys II: The Tribe
Being a Fan of Eighties Action flicks a guilty pleasure has always been The Lost Boys. Even though a direct to video update sequel was mooted, likely with little or no semblence to the original greatness, I was always going to be one of the old school hopeful fans to watch it. With expectations set moderately low I kicked back with the movie & indeed it was not on a par with the original, but hey, it was still a Fun watch. Great to see Corey Feldman back as Edgar Frog still battling the Vampire scourge & here assisting Tad Hilgenbrink, American Pie's screen younger brother to the mighty Stiffler, to save his sister from becoming one of the bloodsuckers. Step brother to Keifer Sutherland, Angus Sutherland, keeps the link to the original open nicely & he does a good turn as the lead vampire. Word of Corey Haim in the movie is bizarre as he does not appear, yet his name does in the end credits ... but wait ... keep watching past the first few name credits for a post script face off that opens up a possible sequel. I had a blast with this & can definitely recommend a rental viewing. Keep expectations low & it'll play out just as you would wish for. There's some nice gore in this too & yes, Corey Feldman steals the show . bb

It sounds like a fun little movie. I was really never a fan of the first movie, but this one made me more interested. But I have a thing for DTV-sequels to.

Fred, even though there are subtle references to the original this one can be watched as a stand alone movie & as such enjoyed well enough as such. Worth a bargain bin pick up in the next six months or a rental / borrow to see. I enjoyed it. bb

RE: Lost Boys II: The Tribe
I was always a huge fan of the original, and if at least one of the Two Coreys is featured throughout, especially Feldman, then I'll for sure give it a whirl. I've always dug Feldman and during my years growing up, he was most definitely one of my favorite actors.
Apparently Jamison Newlander, who played the role of Alan Frog in the original, also reprises his role (but I've heard his scenes are cut too) and hey, Tom Savini pops up in this one!
My understanding is that the reason Corey Haim's scenes were cut is because he had a hard time even getting one line out and staying sober for the shoot.
Here in North America, there is actually a really popular reality TV series on A&E right now called 'THE TWO COREYS' featuring none other than Corey Feldman and Corey Haim living in one big house together (also with Feldman's yummy wife) and airing out some dirty laundry from the past. A few of the episodes are centered around them hammering out the details for LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE and trying to get it completed amongst much substance abuse (on Haim's part) and bickering. They are still shooting new episodes, although apparently there is some major tension currently as the two are in the middle of a 6 month feud. Oh how the mighty have fallen!
LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE is now on the check list!
