Ernesto Colli

Having thus far seen this unique supporting player in three films (TORSO, MACCHIE SOLARI and THE TEMPTER), I've quickly become a big fan of Ernesto Colli and all of his charmingly slimy quirks. Who could forget the way he blackmails his way into having his head driven into by a speeding car in TORSO (1973). Or how about his highly quotable dialogue and the way he tries to force himself on Mimsy Farmer in MACCHIE SOLARI (also '73). And let's not forget his insane attempt at escape and subsequent plunge to death the following year in THE TEMPTER (1974).

Colli was one of those faces - much like Luciano Rossi for example - that you never forgot and always expected a short, albeit, truly memorable and often sleazy performance from. There are several Italian crime outings from the vermin-like actor that I'm hoping to secure, including Vittorio Sindoni's L'ASSASSINO HA LE MANI PULITE (1968) (DEADLY INHERITANCE), Fernando Di Leo's MILANO CALIBRO 9 (1972), Michele Massimo Tarantini's SETTE ORE DI VIOLENZA PER UNA SOLUZIONE IMPREVISTA (1973) (7 HOURS OF VIOLENCE) and Luigi Zampa's BISTURI, LA MAFIA BIANCA (1973) (HOSPITALS: THE WHITE MAFIA). Colli was no stranger to Italian comedies either, and popped up also in everything from Fellini to the odd spaghetti western.

Definitely a favorite of mine, sadly according to my dear friend Kit Gavin, Colli passed away sometime in the early 1980's (not sure of exact details).

What are your thoughts on this sometimes forgotten but impossible to ignore actor?

RE: Ernesto Colli

Yeah, a great character actor! With a face like that he was doomed to be playing sleazy badguys and he did it very well. Love him in TORSO, AUTOPSY and THE ANTICHRIST where he manages to make the most out of his small roles.

He is also quite memorable in the otherwise lackluster giallo DEADLY INHERITANCE, where is highly unconvincing playing an 18 year old!!!!

He's also one of the guys fighting for Rosita Torosh's affection in the enjoyable decamerotic film THE LAST DECAMERON (1972) and back in sleazy fashion as a scumbag robber/rapist in D'Amato's PORNO SHOP ON 7th AVENUE (1978) where he is credited as 'Ernest Arold'.

Oh Lord...lol
Yeah, and I'm Edwige Fenech.

Didn't realize he had done any D'Amato stuff either. All the more reason now to get my hands on PORNO SHOP ON 7TH AVENUE...ASAP!

RE: Ernesto Colli

Ernesto Colli died in 1982, Devin (or Edwige, if you wish Wink ).
Agreed though, a great character actor with a distinctive face. I keep expecting him to turn up in a Fellini flick.
