GRINDHOUSE (2007) - zombi69 - 02-25-2007 03:28 PM

Ok..it's about time to start a thread here on this upcoming dual of flicks from Tarantino and Rodriguez! I have been waiting for this flick for a long time now and after watching the latest trailer for it..time to get down to the dirty stuff already! Wink Thoughts on this while you enjoy the trailer?

The anticipation of release is like licking the envelope showing side of a set of stamps. You can almost taste the glue but there's no calorific value but you dare to be different & that is what Tarantino & Rodriguez have dared. Here's hoping its a First Class delivery.
The whole double movie scenario is terrific & the joy of some bogus Fun trailers is absolutely wonderful. Bring on Machette & Nic Cage as a Werewolf SS killing machine. All we need now is a sequel with Sylvester Stallone & Arnold Schwarzeneggar amongst the cast list or in one of those mock trailers. Arnie as a Doc Savage character tearing limbs off of some Jungle mutant apes would be so very Fun. Stallone as an Vietnam Vet with bionic limbs taking on the Vietcong who tortured him to near death with Chris Mitchum as his renegade C.I.A buddy providing him with top secret new munitions would be awesome.
I really am so looking forward to this ... BUT ... please dear lord may the rumour mill of a European two single movie release be just a rumour !!!!. bb

I like where Tarantino and Rodriguez are going with their ideas here, but somehow I don't think this will be well received by the general public. GRINDHOUSE seems more for drive-in flick fans and people a little more familiar with the overall territory of "fringe" cinema.

I'm really looking forward to this flick. I think it's more for the nostalgic value and to bring back the feeling of seeing these types of films in old theaters and the midnight shows.
I like these types of movies and I have a feeling Tarantino and Rodriguez will pull it off just right.
Well at least I'm hoping so.

I agree, I think this film could be really great fun. However, I'm pretty angry I'm not going to get the chance to see them as originally conceived (it gets split here). For those that's seen it, should I be?

Me and my girlfriend both loved the grindhouse experience. I have seen previous grindhouse films back in the 70's, but this was her first experience. Both of us prefered Planet Terror and I liked Death Proof more then she did. The trailers were good and overall the program brought me back to the 70's. I will be getting the dvd when it is finally released in whatever form they decide. Cool

I'm not buying them seperately. If it isn't released as "Grindhouse", the way it was meant to be, than forget it. Thats the only way I'm going to buy it.

I'm not really that bothered about the films (I don't see this as the next proper Tarantino movie) I was more interested in the whole concept of releasing a double bill of pseudo-70's grindhouse flicks with the old style trailers in the middle for those ever welome 'upcoming features'.

I was a kid when they stopped double bills in the UK and have only vague memories, and was in the wrong country (and too young any way) to experience an exploitaion/grindhouse night out.
As such this was a fun idea.
Take away the idea though and it's simply not that big a deal anymore because it's just two (overblown, given the stupidly big budgets) pretend exploitation flicks that i can take or leave with little thought.

there are enough real grindhouse films out there to watch come to that. Many on the kind of fun double bill set-up (with trailers, like some of the SWV DVD's) that these have given up on.

RE: GRINDHOUSE (2007) - buckaroobanzai - 08-06-2007 04:54 PM

Grindhouse was a fever pitched slice of double bill Cinema I was anticipating for a long time. Excited as can remember from those late Seventies youthfull experiences of sneaking in to watch the 'AA' rated flicks of the day. Value for money & great fun mid budget Action that entertained. Tarantino & Rodriques had done their homework & served up a great showcase that even had fake trailers & all kinds of Seventies styled attributable gimickry to deliver a potentially great show. What happened next over the last few months is a complete farce of overwhelming annoyance. Single showings of the two movies , re-release extended version , dropping of the trailers etc, etc, etc. Now the same is about to happen in delivering the DVD's. Well, enough is enough. I want to see the show as it was intended by it's Directors !. If the distributors think they are squeazing more money out of folk then they are very misguided. I am now NOT going to watch it at the cinema as I was so looking forward to, will not buy separate issues of the movie on DVD & if the movies are ever released properly by the time they get a release I will still NOT buy anyway & just wait for the movies to show up on satellite TV. That adds up to zero dollars in the pockets of moneygrabbing sellouts !. How wrong can a company get it !?. I was aching to see the show at the Multiplex & spreading good advance word to friends & even in my mind spending the money on the best possible DVD release before even seeing it !. Now I am telling all that ask not to bother due to the fiasco surrounding it & could care less about any coming soon news due to constant putting back news in the negative. Quentin, you need to take control as its you who is getting the heat. All we, the fans, want is more of what you have to offer. Sadly the money men want something different, what a waste !. bb
