Ok, my wife grabbed me the Leone boxset with the "Man with no Name/Dollars" trilogy and also DUCK, YOU SUCKER. I have seen all these films a millions times over and still can't wait to dive into this boxset! These are timeless classics from a great director. One that simply gave the Spaghetti Western it's game face!
My personal favorit of his westerns are
Once Upon A Time In The West (or as it was called in Sweden:
"Harmonica - En hämnare"), which is a movie so stunning that I get goosebumps only thinking of it. Maybe some people say it's all hype, but nothing is more wrong. This is IT. THE MOVIE. It's so much movie magic in this piece of work that Leone deserves is place among the greatest!
I love all his movies, but this one really have a special place in my heart.
I also wanna say that
The Colossus Of Rhodes is a masterpiece when it comes to adventure-cinema. Rory Calhoun is for sure a bit strange in the lead. But it's pure matinée and nothing else. Leone directs the action with some amazing skills, and the visuals are stunning. Just check these screenshots:
Leone also did second unit on Robert Aldrichs Sodom and Gomorrah, and did all the fantastic and brutal destruction-sequences.
