I have just heard/read that Frances Nacman died last night at her home in Rome. Though she was hardly a prolific personality in the Euro-Cult world, her best known parts having been in a role in OCEANO (directed by Ruggero Deodato) and as the wicked step-grandmother in Lucio Fulci's VOICES FORM BEYOND.

I met up and hung out with Frances a lot when I was in Rome on trips with my ex-pardner in crime Mike Baronas when compiling extras for Media Blasters. We would often meet up at her apartment, have a smoke in her gloriously kitsch bathroom [provided we got there for 6] and then chow down on pistachios in the sitting room before hitting a restaurant in Trastevere for some good old Italian vegetarian food and a couple of glasses of vino rosso.

Frances was larger than life, completely bonkers, wildly outrageous but terrific fun but an extremely good hearted, seemingly never down woman. She was younger in spirit than her 73 years and a good soul, an excellent spirit and very good fun. I have fond memories and will miss her a great deal.

R.I.P. Frances.
Sad to hear this, Kit - both for the fact that I remember her well from VOICES FROM BEYOND (1991), and that she seemed a dear friend to you.

One film I'd like to see that also featured Ms. Nacman is VOYAGE OF TERROR: THE ACHILLE LAURO AFFAIR (1990), which stars Burt Lancaster and was directed by Alberto Negrin (RED RINGS OF FEAR).

Seems Frances Nacman was still very much active, having most recently played a supporting role in 2007's OLIVIERO RISING.

Of what descent was she exactly, Kit?

Interesting lady, may she rest in peace.
Thanks Dev, yeah Frances was a sweetheart. Today I wrote a review of VOICES FROM BEYOND which hopefully Steve will include in the next update as a tribute to Frances. She was a very dear friend, I miss her and her sense of humor very much indeed.

She was pretty active in her movie career but she also re-started her career as a jazz singer a few years ago as well.

As regards her decent, Frances was American, through and through, born in New York and raised California, though I suspect from her features there was some Jewish blood thrown in there along the way.

Ciao-ciao bella, mi manchi e ti penso molto !!
