Just finished off this Spanish hidden treasure directed by both Jaume Balaguero (DARKNESS) and Paco Plaza (SECOND NAME). This thing is chalked full of great little surprises! Sort of a BLAIR WITCH meets DAWN OF THE DEAD, only with a shot on video/POV approach! Certainly one flick to check out indeed! Of course it didn't take the US long before raping this as well, the remake called QUARANTINE is coming this October! Figures!

Reporter Angela (Manuela Velasco) and her trusty cameraman Pablo are following a local fire crew for a segment of their reality television series "When You're Asleep" when the firefighters receive a distress call from a nearby apartment building. An elderly woman has become locked in her apartment; a routine call by any account. The police are already on the scene, so now it's up to firemen Manu (Ferran Terraza) and Alex (David Vert) to break down the door and ensure that no harm has come to her.

Upon arriving at the building, everything appears normal. But the calm atmosphere at the moment betrays the horrors that begin to unfold after the firemen break down the tenant's door and experience something that no one would believe had it not been captured on camera. Later, as the building is surrounded and quarantined, Pablo continues to roll tape to ensure that whatever the outcome of this terrifying situation may be, there will be some evidence to ensure that the truth gets out.

Watch out for my full review with the next update!

I really liked .REC. A fresh interpretation of the Zombie Contagion in a confined area that has you on the edge of your seat in nervous anticipation of what will thrust itself at the screen next. Very well done. A sequel is already in the planning by the same people, which interests me a whole lot more than the American remake. bb
This was one motherfucking scary movie. I don't know what to write more. I was truly impressed.
You don't need to with that DVD selling blurb Fred, Classic ... and perfectly apt. A Very, Very good Horror flick. A rare gem in the genre that is one of the most refreshing pan splatter flicks in the last decade !. bb
Like all of you I don't react to most movies. I've seen it all. REC wasn't original, but it was made in such a manner that it scared the shit out of me. But it was about time. I haven't had that feeling since I saw Tesis, the spanish thriller, many years ago... and in some sequences in Darkness (also the spanish movie) I felt a bit uneasy. But this was the best so far.
