Have been dying for ages to see this very rare 1980 Spanish horror film from the usually more hit than miss, Eugenio Martín. I was wondering if anyone else frequenting the Forum has possibly come across it?
First of all, I've become a big fan of Eugenio Martín's output, having found myself engrossed in and enjoying several of his efforts, including and most notably, HORROR EXPRESS (1973) (PANICO EN EL TRANSIBERIANO), as well as others, such as BAD MAN'S RIVER (1972) (EL HOMBRE DE RIO MALO) and SOBRENATURAL (1981) (his last horror film following right after THAT HOUSE IN THE OUTSKIRTS).
This one features three main leads - those being occasional Naschy starlett, Silvia Aguilar, actor/writer turned Nobleman, Javier Escrivá, and highly regarded Italian favorite, Alida Valli. The storyline sounds of the Solange-ish variety as Escrivá rents an isolated villa in Madrid for his wife Aguilar to relax at during the last three months of her pregnancy, only for her to discover that it is indeed the same location where some years earlier it stood as an illeagl abortion clinic at which, unbeknownst to her husband, she was one of the patients. Enter Alida Valli, who happens to be the former schizophrenic lover of the Doctor who performed Aguilar's abortion and still lives upstairs and you've got what can only be a recipe for the bizarre.
Looking to get a hold of this one ASAP (my curiosity for this title has grown) and was interested to know where this saw the light of day as a pre-record? My guess is that it may have only played in parts of Spain and Italy as far as theater screenings are concerned. Either way, THAT HOUSE IN THE OUTSKIRTS / AQUELLA CASA EN LAS AFUERAS is an ever elusive find.
