Have been dying for ages to see this very rare 1980 Spanish horror film from the usually more hit than miss, Eugenio Martín. I was wondering if anyone else frequenting the Forum has possibly come across it?

First of all, I've become a big fan of Eugenio Martín's output, having found myself engrossed in and enjoying several of his efforts, including and most notably, HORROR EXPRESS (1973) (PANICO EN EL TRANSIBERIANO), as well as others, such as BAD MAN'S RIVER (1972) (EL HOMBRE DE RIO MALO) and SOBRENATURAL (1981) (his last horror film following right after THAT HOUSE IN THE OUTSKIRTS).

This one features three main leads - those being occasional Naschy starlett, Silvia Aguilar, actor/writer turned Nobleman, Javier Escrivá, and highly regarded Italian favorite, Alida Valli. The storyline sounds of the Solange-ish variety as Escrivá rents an isolated villa in Madrid for his wife Aguilar to relax at during the last three months of her pregnancy, only for her to discover that it is indeed the same location where some years earlier it stood as an illeagl abortion clinic at which, unbeknownst to her husband, she was one of the patients. Enter Alida Valli, who happens to be the former schizophrenic lover of the Doctor who performed Aguilar's abortion and still lives upstairs and you've got what can only be a recipe for the bizarre.

Looking to get a hold of this one ASAP (my curiosity for this title has grown) and was interested to know where this saw the light of day as a pre-record? My guess is that it may have only played in parts of Spain and Italy as far as theater screenings are concerned. Either way, THAT HOUSE IN THE OUTSKIRTS / AQUELLA CASA EN LAS AFUERAS is an ever elusive find.
Dev, Video Search of Miami has a DVDR copy with English subs available HERE!

You have my interest peaking with this one as well! I love everything I've seen from Martin as well as being a huge fan of Spanish horror in general! I might be tempted! Wink
Thanks Steve! Based on my searching around, it looks like DVD-R is the only way to go with this title unless you're lucky enough to happen upon some rare foreign pre-record.

Have you ever dealt with Video Search of Miami? There seems to be no cover shot for THAT HOUSE IN THE OUTSKIRTS. I know it's a DVD-R and all, but a cover sleeve would be nice. Either way, not being picky. I'll likely order it.

Alida Valli, incidentally, did this one right around the time of KILLER NUN and not long before INFERNO. An interesting period in her esteemed career.

It's been awhile, but yes I used to order from them in the old days all the time. Always getting exactly what I ordered. In fact, I just ordered this DVDR, couldn't resist! Wink

I don't think I'm far behind youWink
I've been tempted to get one too but so far I haven't. Looking forward to hearing what you think about it.
Steve,

Have you recieved this yet? I'm just getting around to ordering mine.
So... did any of you guys end up getting this? I'd love to hear a few comments on it.
To be honest, I have not yet ordered it. I ended up going for a Franco double bill on my last film purchase instead (LUST FOR FRANKENSTEIN/TENDER FLESH). I will still however be grabbing this as Video Search of Miami really seems to be one of the only sources of seeing it. I'll be finally going for it early next week.

Steve, how about you?
I ordered it, but they phoned me telling me that my visa was expired??? Fucknuts really! Wink My visa was fine ans still is!
