With the worst mosquito plague in years coupled with a severe explosion at the Beta Chemical plant, things are getting strange. The local news station sends out a team to cover a story at the Power Soft video game designing company. Upon arrival, the front doors are smashed in, indicating that there’s a juice story ahead of them. Once inside, there seems to be no sign of anyone until they make there way upstairs to the designing offices. There, it seems like a hurricane has hit and again, no one in sight. Then giving them all a scare, a hurt man has a tale to tell. The head of design for the new videogame FINAL FLESH 2. Explaining what has gone on in there and is still in the process of happening. A tale of bloodthirsty zombies roaming the building tearing every human to pieces. Will they reach their deadline before they become next?

Totally shot on high definition digital cameras, this 23 minute short out of Holland is packed with a blood curdling punch. Gore fans will enjoy this for it’s pure raw favor and blood soaking chills. Director Johathan Kray as managed to cram a full feature into just 23 minutes and never losing it’s entertaining values. Quick transitions, haunting score and great acting only supports any reasons for seeing a future out of this promising director. Can’t forget the great natural lighting in most of this film. The opening scene with the mock newscast showing a live report from just outside the chemical plant that just exploded. The computer generated graphics for this scene and the ending are incredible to say the least, especially for it being a lower budgeted film. The zombie effects are equally as good, realistically gory and equipped with glowing eyes. One scene in particular, when a body is split in half at the torso, very gut-wrenching indeed. Now how do they become zombies, simple, Kray uses the 28 DAYS LATER approach with using a method of human madness, the mosquito. Not just the mosquito though, ones that are infected from the explosion from the chemical plant. With all these Sars, Anthrax and Small Pox scares going around, it works with ease.

Twisted Pictures have not only produced a first class zombie short, but an equally as good DVD to incase it. Loads of extras bust the seems of this DVD, from trailers to trivia. There is a featurette split into two segments, one with the behind the scenes making of DEADLINE. The second segment is for all the digital effects throughout the film. The DVD gives you the option to either view the film in letterbox ratio or in widescreen ratio. Very clean visuals not just throughout the film itself, but with everything from the menu to extras as well. DEADLINE’S audio is presented in either in Dolby Surround or in Dolby Digital 5.1. Again, like the visuals, the audio is very crisp and clean. Many kudos to Twisted Pictures and here’s to future projects!
