<David_Z> it can be fun, you'll meet up with a lot of people and talk about the

movies... some good folks are here at CN

<Edward> I add yesterday about six or seven beautiful reviews from Mike

Matinez, very well done.

<David_Z> Cool, you will probably NEVER run out of reviews or reviewers. In

America at the least your father got a lot of exposure and has a ton of fans.

<Edward> Yes, Robert Monell sent me some reviews especially made for

the site, and he's working on some others

<Edward> 1,0that was a good film

<David_Z> Join the Yor chat fred :)

<Kit_Gavin> was it made in turkey?

<David_Z> Yes indeed, the history of Yor would be a fascinating story!

<fredzilla> I will! :) I have a question about Yor actually.

<David_Z> well..fascinating to me :)

<Edward> 1,0by the way we did in 1983 a TV series made out of 4 episodes

of 50' each

<fredzilla> How was that and tell us more about working with Aytekin Akkaya

(who played a caveman in Yor).

<Edward> the shooting was entirely done in Turkey

<David_Z> Was that version in English or strictly for Italian TV

<Kit_Gavin> yes I saw Corinne has them

<Edward> at Istambul the studio interiors

<Edward> Aytekin was a good friend

<Edward> 0we work with him also in Ark of the sun god

<Kit_Gavin> with almanta suska?

<fredzilla> A friend of mine is a big fan of Ayetkin and he also loves Yor :)

<David_Z> Fred, there is a lovely Italian DVD of Ark of the Sun God that you

simply have to have.

<Edward> 1,0the TV series was only made for Italy

<fredzilla> David: I will, some day :)

<Edward> 1,0no Almanta Suska was in the Philippines

<Kit_Gavin> sppravvisuti del cobra d'oro?

<Edward> 1,0Raider of the Golden Cobra

<Kit_Gavin> i was living in the philipines when you made it

<Edward> 1,0Kit you made a mix between two films

<Kit_Gavin> i did

<Kit_Gavin> sorry

<Edward> 1,0Raiders and Tiger Joe

<David_Z> The action films are amongst my favorite films. Tiger Joe,

Tornado...all fun stuff.

<Kit_Gavin> what do you remember about almanta?

<Edward> 1,0You lived in the Philippines too?

<Kit_Gavin> yes. when i was young

<Edward> Nothing I was in the Army during that film, I just work in Rome

for the special effects

<Kit_Gavin> when marcos and then aquino were president

<fredzilla> Can you tell us more about how you worked with the fantastic

miniatures? Where they constructed and filmed in Italy? Tell us more :)

<Edward> Me too... I practically lived there for six years

<Kit_Gavin> where? Manilla?

<Kit_Gavin> or Quezon city?

<Edward> Miniatures about Yor were made all in Rome

<Edward> I lived in Manila, near Makati

<Kit_Gavin> I remember

<Kit_Gavin> me too :o)

<Edward> What?

<Kit_Gavin> 6th street

<David_Z> The miniature work is fantastic in Yor, it has so very much flavor. I

don't think CGI could capture it.

<Kit_Gavin> a place called monteverdi mansions

<Edward> all Europeans were living in that area... more or less

<fredzilla> I love the miniature airplane in Commando Lepoard, that's one of

the best effect shots ever made.

<Edward> You know that the monsters in Yor were all in scale 1:1?

ashleys_very_hot Quit (Web Browser left the chat web page)

<David_Z> I certainly thought so of that opening dinosaur, it's incredible really!

<Edward> the big Tryceratrops was over 25 feet long and 12 tall

<David_Z> Hah... I bet that was a real sight!

<fredzilla> Is Luciano Pigozzi still around in the movie industry?

Devin_Kelly has entered the room

<Kit_Gavin> have you kept any of the models?

<David_Z> Reb Brown smacking away at a giant dinosaur

creature...amazing.

<Edward> We manage to move it with five persons inside the monsters

<Kit_Gavin> pigozzi lives in paris fred

<Edward> How can we do that Kit?

<David_Z> I bet, that must have been some day trying to get it to move

<Edward> Really? Luciano doesn't live in Rome anymore?

<Kit_Gavin> rambaldi has most of his

<Devin_Kelly> hello everyone, apologies for being late, just got in from work

and cleaned up

<Kit_Gavin> he lives between Rome and Paris

<Devin_Kelly> hello Edoardo, and welcome...it's an honor

<Edward> Rambaldi has more space than we did

<Edward> My pleasure

<David_Z> I bet, where do you store a giant dinosaur...it would be like

Batman and his batcave.

<David_Z> hey devin

<Kit_Gavin> true

Yor_The_Last_Hunter has entered the room

<Devin_Kelly> hey DZ, Steve, Fred

<fredzilla> devin :

<Edward> we build about five or six creatures... I don't remember

Yor_The_Last_Hunter Quit (Web Browser left the chat web page)

<fredzilla> Was Klaus Kinski hard to work with?

<David_Z> Yor had a great bunch of costumes and characters as well! John

Steiner is pretty barmy in a lot of films, but as Overlord...wow!

<Edward> I almost fight with him. The rest of the crew had to stop me

<Devin_Kelly> Edoardo, may I ask you, are you ever in touch with Mike

Monty these days? I know you cast him in your COBRA NERO 2...where is

he today?

<David_Z> Ah...Kinski strikes again.

<Edward> I've seen Mike about three months ago... he came to Rome for

few days

<fredzilla> I've heard there's very few that got along with Kinski. How did your

father work with him?

<Edward> Mike still live in Manila

<Kit_Gavin> monti also lives in the philippines i think

<Kit_Gavin> :o)

<Edward> since twenty years

<Devin_Kelly> yes, I know he did a lot of films out of the Philippines

<Devin_Kelly> is he still active?

<Edward> in the 60's he work pretty a lot in Italy

<Kit_Gavin> last time i saw luciano pigozzi he was living in Via Saluzzo

Saluzzo

<Devin_Kelly> ah, I love Pigozzi...unmistakeable face:)

<Edward> Yes, Mike still work for some Japanese movies, the last still

1,0made in the Philippines

<Devin_Kelly> very cool...thank you

<fredzilla> Pigozzi is one of the best.

<Devin_Kelly> for sure Fred!

<Edward> Pigozzi without beard is alike Peter Lorre

<Devin_Kelly> pops up in SOOOOOO many films too

<fredzilla> Yes, very alike.

<Devin_Kelly> lol, so true

<fredzilla> I've heard some dubbing where they made him sound like Lorre to.

<Edward> ?

<Edward> never notice... I do not know the voice of Lorre

<Kit_Gavin> era un doppiattore che a fatto una voce per pigozzi che

sembrava la voce di lorre in inglese

Roberto67 has entered the room

<fredzilla> Lorre has such a special voice, and some of Pigozzis movies from

the sixties the english dubbing voice resembles Lorre very much.

<Edward> Antonio loves comics, he want to make a sequel for Yor, but

was not possible

<David_Z> Pigozzi's career is always amazing, I just smile whenever he pops

up!

<SteveGenier> Hello, sorry I'm late

<David_Z> His comics influences are visible, especially in all the miniature

sequences, it's wonderful

<Edward> Forgiven

<fredzilla> Steve!

<David_Z> Hey Steve

<Kit_Gavin> hey

<SteveGenier> Hello Guys!

<Edward> There was a comics he loved, The Mercenary, from a spanish

artist

<SteveGenier> Has Edoardo found the chatroom ok?

<fredzilla> Edoardo is here with us :)

<Edward> was a knight in armous who rides a flying dragon in a fantastic

1,0world

<Edward> I just translate my name

<SteveGenier> ok...Hello Edoardo and welcome!

<David_Z> I am currently writing a comics series and found myself paying a

little tribute to the mini car chase :)

<Devin_Kelly> Edoardo, perhaps of interest to you, I have one of your father's

films here that I will be sitting down with tonight, BATTLE OF THE

WORLDS (1961)

<David_Z> except in the story they really ARE minicars

<Edward> funny, Antonio would love it

<Devin_Kelly> with Claude Rains

<David_Z> The scifi films are great stuff Devin, you'll get a big kick out of

them.

<Devin_Kelly> yes he was an excellent actor

<Edward> unfortunately he died many years ago

<Devin_Kelly> just saw him in Carlo Lizaani's HOUSE OF THE YELLOW

CARPET

<Devin_Kelly> Lizzani I mean

<Devin_Kelly> yes I know - cancer wasn't it?

<Edward> I can't say the same for joey Travolta which was ???

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo , Please could you share any thoughts on working

with Bruce Willis on Hudson Hawk ;)

<Devin_Kelly> didn't do a whole lot outside of Spanish productions I don't

think

<Edward> I work with her five or six year after and she lost a lot, she gain

a lot of weight

<Devin_Kelly> on which project was that Edoardo?

<Edward> Bruce was amazing, a great guy

<Devin_Kelly> the second time I mean

<Edward> He's huge, you can't tell from movies but he's over 6 feet plus

<Devin_Kelly> wow!

<Devin_Kelly> didn't think he was that big at all

<Edward> me too

<Cobra_Nero> Hudson Hawk had some Excellent model work ... did you get

involved other than assistant Director ?

<Edward> if you look at his picture in my biography, consider that I'm over

1,0six feet

<Devin_Kelly> so who gave you the name of Dan Edwards? was it thought

up by you? why not Edoardo Margheriti?:)

<Edward> No Hudson Hawk was my first experience in production I was a

sort of Production manager and first AD for the second unit.

<Edward> Dan Edwards... I've choose it, we all have to use American

names in the 80's

<Cobra_Nero> Hudson Hawk is a Fun Favourite of mine , it was unfairly

panned ... Big Fun Movie Looks great Edoardo

<David_Z> Ed Daisies...that could have worked ;)

<Devin_Kelly> just like Anthony M. Dawson:)

<Edward> some dvd in the world comes out with A J Dawson (I was

*BLEEP* upset)

<Edward> in H.Hawk they just choose the wrong director

<Edward> it was a funny movie

<Cobra_Nero> Antonio's early movies credited him as just Anthony Dawson ,

did he add the 'M' for Margheriti ?

<Edward> Danny Aiello was great

SavannahMan has entered the room

<Cobra_Nero> How Cool it would have been if Antonio had Directed Hudson

Hawk : )

<David_Z> That could have been a great film Paul...

<Edward> Yes, he had to, because there is an English actor who's real

1,0name is Anthony Dawson and was creating confusion

<Devin_Kelly> how'd you like working with the great Lee Van Cleef on

JUNGLE RAIDERS (LA LEGGENDA DEL RUBINO MALESE)?

<Cobra_Nero> Sure would have been DZ : )

<Devin_Kelly> well not only JUNGLE RAIDERS...but several others as well

<Edward> We made several film with Lee, was a sweet heart

<Edward> incredible uh?

<David_Z> I have a question about Web of the Spider. I really like that film a

lot (though I've only seen the cut down english print), what was Antonio's

opinion of that film?

<SteveGenier> ok, can I jump in here for a sec?

<Cobra_Nero> Lee Van Cleef in the Jungle with the Margheriti family a sure

fire success : )

<David_Z> It was interesting as a remake of an earlier (and classic) film, but it

has a flavor all it's own

<Edward> He like it, but he prefer Castle of Blood

<Devin_Kelly> yes, I love CODENAME:WILDGEESE:) Mimsy Farmer and Van

Cleef are a dream team for me:)

frankie has entered the room (hostname: XXXXX.dsl.sndg02.pacbell.net)

<Cobra_Nero> FRANKI !!!! Hey Bro : )

<Edward> he had a crash for Barbara Steele

<Edward> thats why he prefer the first one

<Edward> Italian sets were a messy

<frankie> hehe

<frankie> i just bought some monkey fur and costume stuff for my next "film"

<Edward> Who have seen the TV version of Yor?

<David_Z> Alright, I have to share this...Paul, the monsters in Yor were made

at 1:1 scale! The opening dinosaur was operated by 5 people!

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo hope those nails were miniatures LOL : )

<David_Z> Good lord, I'd chop off an arm to see the long version of Yor :)

<Edward>There was an Antonio film in which the Key Grip was wearing a

Gorillas costume

<David_Z> hahah...mini-nails

<Cobra_Nero> LOVE that opening Dinosaur ... sacrier than Reb Browns Wig :

)

<Edward> I was operating the head, eyes and mouth

<David_Z> There must be some very funny production stills of grips in gorilla

suits and...wait

<Edward>  there was a person for each leg

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo how much room space do you have to keep those

wonderful miniatures of yours & Antonios ?

<David_Z> YOU were in the dino. I love the dino. thank you for letting me

know, I'll be looking hard next time :)

<Cobra_Nero> Edwardino .... Excellent LOL

<frankie> the trailer for Mr. Superinvisible seems to have some extra footage

not in the US tape...

<David_Z> I hope Reb didn't clonk you too hard!

<Edward> we missed almost all, we just preserve the train of "A fistful of

Dynamite" few cars and couple of airplanes

<David_Z> oh...that is too bad. Some of those props are amazing.

<Cobra_Nero> Thats a great shame I would have loved to one day walked

into a room with you full of Margheriti Miniature Greatness

<Edward> I will put aftertomorrow (tomorrow I go to the sea) the english

trailer of Virtual Weapon

<frankie> most of 'em were blown up anyways :)

<David_Z> true Frankie, so true.

<Edward> the bigger constructions were destroyed

<Devin_Kelly> Edoardo - who's idea was it to cast Marvin Hagler for INDIO?

<Edward> then we were using the rest in the following film

<frankie> Edoardo, what was your favorite of your father's films?

<Cobra_Nero> Frankie ... maybe Edoardo could use your sideburns for Fred

Williamson's double on Cobra Nero 4 ; )

<frankie> stunt burns

<Edward> For Indio, I think was from the producer

<Kit_Gavin> do you still work in the film business edoardo?

<Devin_Kelly> Filiberto Bandini

<Edward> The films are several Castle of Blood, Web of the Spider, Virgin

of Nuremberg, Wild,Wild planet, Yor, Commando Leopard, and some other

<Cobra_Nero> YOR ... Excellent : )

<Edward> I'm working as a Line Producer from twelve years now

<Edward> but I'm tired

<David_Z> I just saw Virgin of Nuremberg for the first time...fantastic film!!

<Edward> I'm coming back as Director

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo we need to get you back making movies my friend

<Edward> I have several projects on the go

<Kit_Gavin> which technicians have you worked with that you remember

<Devin_Kelly> I loved Rene...great little stunt guy

<Devin_Kelly> wonder how he died? a shame...

<Edward> The Last Hunter we had his father Apollonio Abadeza as

<Devin_Kelly> and that is his father?

<Kit_Gavin> true

<Devin_Kelly> and that is his father?

<David_Z> Good lord, and I know just the studio to write such a thing :)

<David_Z> PostNukes...they aren't just for nostalgia anymore.

<Devin_Kelly> I notice your father also used Rene of course as well in

CODENAME:WILDGESE

<Cobra_Nero> Half written ; )

<Devin_Kelly> and he popped up in Bruno Mattei's STRIKE COMMANDO as

well

<Edward> 1,0Renee works whit us in a dozen of films

<Edward> 1,0Bruno made too many films in the Philippines

<Devin_Kelly> lol...but never too many period;)lol

<Kit_Gavin> nice guy though

<David_Z> He sure made a few, but I can never have enough Bruno Mattei

<David_Z> Ever.

<Cobra_Nero> Never enough Italian Action movies made in the Phillipines : )

<Edward> 1,0They kill the market, all this films were made in the same

1,0locations and look the same

<Devin_Kelly> he's still at it, now with a cannibal film:)

<frankie> how was it shooting in the philippines? seems like they let you blow

up anything you wanted

<Edward> 1,0this affect also Antonio's films which were superior but..

<Devin_Kelly> and before that, SNUFF TRAP

<Cobra_Nero> Interesting that Antonio had Lewis Collins & Mattei had Brent

Huff , they would have been good together in a film

<Edward> 1,0once I was kicked out from one location near Manila because

1,0the explosion was too strong

<Devin_Kelly> what do you think of this current resurrection of the Italian

cannibal film, Edoardo?

<Kit_Gavin> have you ever worked with gino bombadone de rossi for the

explosions?

<Cobra_Nero> That Explosion may well have been for Mattei's Born To Fight

... that was Truly EXPLOSIVE !!!

<Edward> 1,0I did not know it was resurrecting

<David_Z> Frankie is right, it would appear the Phillipines were using the

Italian film industry as demolition contractors

<Devin_Kelly> Bombadone...he's the one who stabbed the pig in CANNIBAL

FEROX

<Edward> 1,0Gino he's a great man

<Devin_Kelly> yes, Bruno Mattei has made one

<Kit_Gavin> he is

<Devin_Kelly> and there is another out of Italy currently as well

<Devin_Kelly> SNUFF TRAP - which I have not seen

<Roberto67> hello all - sorry, I'd just signed on and company arrived to the

1,0market all together

<Devin_Kelly> hi Roberto

<Roberto67> hi!

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo The Shark movies from Italy were many after Jaws ,

<Edward> 1,0no but he made a piranha 's one

<David_Z> the thought of a miniature shark makes my brain wobble...

<Devin_Kelly> KILLER FISH

<Devin_Kelly> ah good old James Franciscus...fun actor

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo I have not seen much of Antonio's early Sci Fi films

but they look Fun & the sets have a colourful style like Mario Bava's. Was

that intentional ?

<Edward> 1,0we used hundreds of dried real pirnhas hanged whit wire and

1,0flight like ghost behind a plastic pool filled whith water

<David_Z> Oh man, that must have been an odd looking set :)

<Devin_Kelly> lol..wow, never knew that

<Edward> 1,0Probably they were shot in the same sets for saving money, we

1,0talk of a period of Italian filming pretty pooor

<Cobra_Nero> The lost Piranha scene that Ruggero Deodato talks of LOL

<Cobra_Nero> The budget may have been poor but the quality of Fun

productions was high Edoardo : )

so very much. The fantastic was his home in the movies, and he opened

up the doors for a lot of us

Gunfighter , how was it mixing the worlds of Western & Kung Fu ?

Devin_Kelly Quit (Connection reset by peer (TCP/IP connection broken))

<Cobra_Nero> DZ ... No ... what the heck , how did I miss that !?

<Edward> 1,0I did not work yet with antonio at that time, but it comes from

1,0other two films he made for Carlo Ponti

<Edward> 1,0one parody of the Kung Fu movies

<David_Z> It's an early film... 64 I believe. That and the other one that stands

out is Devil of the desert

<Edward> 1,0and one western with fun and ghosts

<Cobra_Nero> I love the black dressed preacher & his war wagon

<David_Z> great fun stuff...

<David_Z> I'll send you them, it gives me an excuse to watch them again :)

<Edward> 1,0damned post

<Edward> 1,0he was a nice guy, but "stiff"

important, it's even slower!

<SteveGenier> Guys, this has been one hell of a learning experience for me!

<SteveGenier> Thanks to you all

<Cobra_Nero> If the post lose it I'll send in the Margheriti Miniature Corp to

<SteveGenier> I have to investigate more Margheriti, I have only seen a

handful.

<Cobra_Nero> : ) ... dedicated to you & Antonio my friend

<Edward> 1,0I have some photos of the construction of those Dynos I will

<SteveGenier> Paul and David your knowledge is oincredible!

<SteveGenier> incredible that is

<Cobra_Nero> Steve , I will happily hook you up as sharing Antonio

Margheriti's great work is a pleasure : )

<David_Z> fah...just obsessive and I truly love these films so much it is a

pleasure to share them!

<Edward> 1,0Paul you read the other reviews from Mike Martinez?

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo , The Site is so Cool ... I will continue to help out with

the translation work ... Big Fun for me

<David_Z> Excellent, I can't wait to see the pictures.

<Roberto67> I just wish Antonio's space-fantasies would receive a proper

DVD presentation

<Edward> 1,0I'm not sending any, but if you see some mistake advise me.

<Roberto67> they are so colorful that to see them cropped and washed out

does no justice to his imagination

<Cobra_Nero> Not seen Mike Martinez Reviews yet Edoardo ... Mike has

over the years written on many Italian Action movies so I most likely would

have seen before. I will do some new Reviews soonest : )

<David_Z> I agree Roberto-they would be amazing. The laserdisc of Wild

Wild Planet was a real treat. I think that AMC plays Snow Devils every so

often as well.

<Cobra_Nero> Robert 67 , it is well worth hunting out the Japanese Videos for

Antonios work as a lot are in original widescreen & look superb

<Roberto67> Wild, Wild Planet is like a living comic book - it's just crazy

<Roberto67> thank you for that tip!

<Edward> 1,0I have the entire dvd collection of the SciFi films by Antonio

1,0recorded by a satellite TV, and are perfect. I wonder where they found

1,0such a good copies

<David_Z> I can't wait to write up some stuff for the site as well. I think I

groped up my first girlfriend during a showing of YOR actually...ah,

memories. Same year as Cozzi's Hercules!

<SteveGenier> By the way Roberto67, welcome to Cinema Nocturna too!

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo I will check all the new stuff & will definitely let you

know : )

well!

<Edward> 1,0An article that Enzo Castellari will send me tomorrow

<Edward> 1,0a big section on Barbara Steele with an interview and her

1,0tought about Antonio

<David_Z> wow...that is big! Enzo is another of the greats in Italian cinema!

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo , David Z will deliver some of the best Action packed

Reviews for you ... More Fun to follow : )

<David_Z> I'll do my best-if you had told me such an opportunity would be

possible when I saw these films all those years ago, I wouldn't have

believed it!

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo I would love to see you do a project with Enzo

<Edward> 1,0And also Ruggero Deodato which I still waiting for

<David_Z> I agree...it's time for the Italian masters to come together and

create some new films!

<Cobra_Nero> I must have seen my first Antonio Margheriti film in the late

Seventies / early Eighties ... hooked from then on : )

<Edward> 1,0Unfortunately the most interesting actors or directors to

1,0interview for the site are passed away

<Cobra_Nero> I wore out my Video Tapes for the Lewis Collins Jungle Trilogy

... thank goodness for Japanese Tapes & DVD's : )

<Edward> 1,0David I will wait your reviews

<David_Z> I had a strange first experience myself. It was probably Yor first,

but I became aware of who was making the films after a late night showing

of Web of the Spider on TV. Then I learned that my brothers favorite film

(and one of mine) The Last Hunter was from the same person. That's one

of my earliest collecting memories really.

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo it would be an honour to Interview you for Cinema

Nocturna in the near future if you would be so kind ?

<David_Z> It all came to a head just a few weeks back when I got a beautiful

Last Hunter poster framed and given to my brother for being my best man.

<Edward> 1,0send me the question and you will get the answer

<David_Z> I agree...it would be a very good read, and Paul is the man/fan to

do it!

<Edward> I know this story David

<Cobra_Nero> I will Edoardo ... lots of questions , but I will make it enjoyable

for you I promise : )

<David_Z> Oh, the poster, that is me on Horror HQ :)

<Roberto67> Edoardo do you feel that many of these actors or directors are

more appreciated today by fans than they were during their busy years?

<Edward> then you should correct the spelling... :)

<David_Z> Nobody does interviews like Paul :)

<David_Z> will do!

<Cobra_Nero> Edoardo , spell check is my pleasure ... Fun putting your words

into context : )

<David_Z> Alright gents, I'm off-thank you so much Edoardo.

<Edward> Yes I feel that... Also Antonio was not so much apreciate when

he was working a lot

<Edward> night dave

<Edward> thanks dave

<Roberto67> good night Dave

<David_Z> Talk to you all soon and stay well!

<Edward> it's the same for the painters

<Cobra_Nero> I think the dawn of the Video age helped the world appreciate

Antonio's work as more of his films became available

answer.
